As expected, Brexit's "Leave" vote basically stole the show today. It's a "mess" out there, and I included several articles to give a feel for the day-after rocking from the earthquake that is Brexit. Main news is falling markets worldwide, threats by Scotland to break away from the UK, and other nations emboldened to follow in Britain's steps. If that isn't enough, Obama managed to slip in the first National Monument celebrating homosexuality and the PCUSA has decided to phase men out of all leadership roles entirely. No, really.

"The British government now has no democratic mandate to represent the views of the North in any future negotiations with the European Union, and I do believe that there is a democratic imperative for a 'border poll' to be held," McGuinness told Irish broadcaster RTE, according to the Reuters news agency.

After Brexit vote, a tongue-in-cheek call for independence for London bbc

An online petition started by journalist James O'Malley, a backer of the Remain campaign, quickly garnered more than 30,000 signatures on Friday. Posted to Change.org, O'Malley's petition declared: "London is an international city, and we want to remain at the heart of Europe. Let's face it - the rest of the country disagrees. So rather than passive aggressively vote against each other at every election, let's make the divorce official and move in with our friends on the continent."

British Pound Crushed After Brexit Vote To Leave EU forbes

It would seem that global markets didn’t think Britain would actually vote to leave the European Union. Despite the betting odds and opinion polls that suggested the “remain” side would likely carry the day, the U.K. voted for a Brexit and started the wheels in motion to leave the 28-nation Bloc. The results hammered global stocks and sent the British pound sliding against the dollar.

DARPA's 'Virtual Eye' lets soldiers see around obstacles engadget v

Intel's virtual FreeD replay tech used in the NBA and other sports is cool, but it requires a lot of cameras and GPU horsepower. DARPA, the US military's science fiction arm, thinks the same technology could give soldiers and rescuers better situational awareness. Since there's no way personnel can lug all those computers and cameras into a battle or disaster, it worked with NVIDIA to create Virtual Eye. The system fuses two images into a live synthetic 3D scene using just a powerful laptop and a pair of cameras.

DARPA is looking to make huge strides in machine learning pcworld

Models are a fundamental part of machine learning. Similar to algorithms, they help teach computers to, say, identify a cat in a photo, forecast weather from historical data or sort spam from legitimate email.

But writing the models takes time and requires many skills. Typically, data scientists, subject matter experts and software engineers all have to come together to develop the model.
