Head of Iran’s hate cartoon fest equates Holocaust with Israeli actions in ‘Palestine’ timesofisrael

Several cartoons on display focus on Benjamin Netanyahu, with one depicting the Israeli prime minister as a member of the Islamic State jihadist group and holding a sabre in his hand.

Another shows a map of the Middle East with a coffin bearing the word “Holocaust” flattening Palestinians in place of what should be the country of Israel.

Society

Humans Are Animals, Too npr.org w!

This inconsistent usage [in headlines that mix and separate 'humans' and 'animals'] points to a fundamental tension in the way we view ourselves as humans: As part of the biological world, on the one hand, yet special and set apart, on the other. Where do these perspectives come from? And are they universal to all humans, or a quirk of our own culture?

This "tension" as the author describes it (are we animals or different or what) is actually one of the first things our Creator set straight. Looking in Genesis 1, we see Him creating things (water, light, earth) and creatures (livestock, birds, fish, etc) in a distant kind of way ("Let their...", "Let them...", etc [Gen 1:3-25]). But when it comes to humans, He becomes personal ("Let Us..." [Gen 1:26]), makes us to be His only creation "in His image" (a distinction not even given to the angels!), and gives us dominion over the creatures (Gen 1:26, Gen 2:19-20). While we are made from the same dust, only mankind was given the breath of life (Gen 2:7) and made in the image of God. We were also placed over the creatures. Our difference from animals is derived directly from Him making us more and higher than animals, and for His glory. We are both dust and fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
